Oasis RV Resort, Las Vegas NV

Our camper was left in storage at Oasis RV and we had concern about it.  We knew it will get pretty warm there, so the potential of something going wrong was present.  Before we left, Tom installed new fans with programmable thermostats, we could control getting the hot air out. Still, we had no idea what to expect.

Once we landed and got to the campground, everything went surprisingly smoothly.  We hitched up, checked-in and then landed in our side, which had lots of shade (thank goodness).

My main impression of this stay was HEAT, I have never experienced anything like it.  Our A/C was running 24hrs a day, we kept the window shades down and spend midday in our little cave.  All the errands and activities that needed to be done were done in the morning.  I had no desire to even think about exploring the area, frankly, there was concern about the truck traveling any distance.  We talked to the staff at the resort and were told about multiple breakdowns on the roads due to the heat.  Sunday, July 7th, it was 118 degrees!

We tried sitting out in the evening, but the breeze was hotter than the surrounding air, just like if you stood behind the exhaust of a tracker-trailer. I have not experienced anything like this before.

Our late afternoons were spent in the pool, once it was in the shade. We met some nice folks there, passing through Vegas to other, hopefully cooler, places.  I felt bad for one couple from California, their camper broke down on the way due to heat. Hopefully they will get it fixed and continue north.

Finally, we left for our next stop early in the morning, trying to beat the heat.
