Tin Cup RV, Merkel TX

There’s another storm coming this Saturday, we will be in Merkel TX.  Just a small town along I20 West, 3hr drive from Dallas. I love the wild flowers along the highway, so pretty.  There are also last number of wind farms, just rows of turbines along the horizon, very interesting.

We’re stopping for two nights, there’s no attractions in the area.  Tom asked for covered site and we got it, it’s basically parking your trailer under a big root.  We hope that it will help, there’s a small chance of hail. The park manager was super nice, she helped getting us to our site.  The park is used by either people passing through, like us, or people that live there long term, which seems to be the majority, maybe working in the area.   We have seen so much road construction around I20, it’s impressive.  Some of the workers may live in this campground.

We were pretty hungry and asked for restaurant recommendations, ending up at Skeet’s Texas Grill.  No chili or bbq on the menu, but they had very tasty grilled chicken with cheese and veggies and baked potato on the side.  You just never know what you’ll find, food was delicious and service great.

We weathered the storm the next day, it lasted pretty much all day with thunder and lighting just to make it more interesting.  We are leaving for our last stop in Texas and then onto New Mexico and more adventures.
