Stonehurst, NB Canada
There was some anxiety on our part as far as taking the trailer into Canada, but the first border crossing was nothing but simple. Of course, we need our passports, but we had a really good experience on the border. Once we got underway on Trans-Canadian Highway, it was smooth sailing. I drove part of the way, yes, you are reading this correctly, I drove the trailer from our mid-trip stop to the campground in Moncton, NB.
This is a large town about 40 km off the coast, but still experiencing the tidal bore, noticeable tide coming from the Bay of Fundy. Alas, we missed it by about 40 mins, still seeing the tide rushing into the river (?) Was worth getting to the riverbank. They call it the “chocolate” river, since it’s dark brown due to all the sediment that the tide brings up.
The campground is next to a golf course, its the same property owned by one family. We met the sister, Nancy who checked us in and Robert, who works at the golf course. Tom played, of course, though no driving, you need to walk the cart. The course is not large, but very pretty with lots of trees and wild flowers and little streams. I enjoyed being Tom’s caddy.
We will be back here after our visit to Prince Edward Island, I’m really looking forward to that.
