Coral Sands RV, Bluff UT
Bluff UT has official Visitor’s Center for Bears Ears National Monument. The Visitor Center was closed, it may be open only few days a week. The town itself is small and very quiet. Our campground did not look like much but our site was actually large, in the back of the property with nice views of the cliffs across San Juan River. We had to take care of household tasks, laundry and cleaning. Then we drove around the area especially down to San Juan River. The Sand Island Recreation Area has a boat launch and campground, mostly for tent camping.
There’s a wonderful site with petroglyphs on cliffs above the river, easy walk from parking area, still in the Sand Island. We looked at the boat launch and the San Juan river, it was muddy and moving fast, I’m not sure I would take a chance and kayak on it, maybe with a guide. Just north of town, tucked into a canyon, there’s Bluff Dwellings Resort and Spa . It would be a good place to stay to explore Bears Ears area. Across the street is Twin Rocks Trading Post and Cafe , which had number of native artisans’ work. We did not eat at the cafe but the reviews were good and there are very few options in Bluff for dining out.
We opted for quiet time and rest after all the fun in Moab. Next stop is Page, AZ.
