Atlatl Rock Campground, Valley Of Fire SP, NV

Traveling from Springdale UT and Zion was simple, after 30 minutes or so, we were on I-15.  Back to civilization! But what a difference once we exited for Valley Of Fire.  After passing through a few small towns, we were in the middle of nowhere.  The campground was simple with huge sites, after we settled in, both A/C went to work - it was hot! Hot enough to deploy our solar cover, it does help keep the camper shaded.

We decided to tour late in the day, after 6 pm to escape the heat and the sun.  The place is otherworldly with colorful formations, some are formed from red rocks on top of a white layer, it does look like a flame.  But heat warnings were prominent, it is easy to get dehydrated plus the sand and rocks reflect the heat.  We did not hike, just walked around in a few scenic spots.

It was nice sitting out later in the evening after sunset and watching the night sky light up with stars.  It would be a great place to explore when the temperatures are moderate, there’s lots to see. But at this point in our journey, we were ready to get back home.  We left for Las Vegas the next morning.
